English occultist, writer, and ceremonial magician Aleister Crowley was born in 1875 and passed away in 1947. He is well recognized for having founded the Thelemic worldview and for his esoteric writings.
Occultists and people in quest of their spiritual selves are still fascinated by and studying him now because he was a contentious figure during his lifetime.
Crowley was a prolific writer who produced numerous books on magic, spirituality, and mysticism. Perhaps his best-known work is “The Book of the Law,” which he said was dictated to him by a supernatural person known as Aiwass.
The fundamental concepts of the book are a description of Thelema, which emphasizes individualism and the pursuit of one’s real well as the path to spiritual enlightenment.
Crowley established the A.A. and the Ordo Templi Orientis (OTO), two groups dedicated to the study and application of occultism. The OTO’s doctrines and techniques are still studied and used by occultists today. In the 20th century, the OTO attained considerable notoriety.
The family of Aleister Crowley is yet unidentified.
